I thought I would share a quick October wrap up and some updates about what the students have been working on this past month.
October is often associated most closely with Halloween – a candy-filled day that most students adore – so it was no surprise that if you ask any of the students in my class what their highlight of the past month was, they will reply that it was the Halloween Party! (Complete with candy and minions…)
But we were also able to connect the theme of Fall and explore the seasonal changes in October with a variety of different art and language arts projects. The students worked with their Grade 3 buddies to create a visual art project to display the fall leaves.
They also connected Fall and Halloween and had some fun creating paper bats.
In Math, we conducted a closer study on numbers to 20. As well as skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. The students will continue to explore these number concepts in November as well.
In Science, the students worked closely at identifying the characteristics of living and non-living things. They also studied the life cycle of the pumpkin.
Another October highlight was our trip to the Port Kells Nursery and Pumpkin Patch….and the haunted house, of course!
