Lest We Forget!

The students are learning about Remembrance Day this week. The students learned about the history of the war and the sacrifices made by the soldiers on the battlefield. We listened to John McCrae’s historic poem, “Flander’s Field.” The video was appropriate for the Grade 1s because the lines were reinforced by visuals and they could get a better understanding of the poem’s significance.

This week we will be collecting donations for poppies, you are free to donate as much as you like. We will also have a holiday on November 11th (Wednesday) in honour of Remembrance Day. Please feel free to speak to your child about the importance of Remembrance Day at home as well.
