Reading Assessments

This week the students are completed their final reading assessments for the term. Their performance on this assessment will reflect a large part of their grade on the first term report cards. There is no time limit for the assessment, but I am looking for good pacing, oral fluency, and ability to read common sight words – such as we, go, to, the, it, is – without stumbling.

Moreover, I’m also watching for student’s ability to use context clues – pictures and words – to aid them in reading unfamiliar words.

I have assessed 13 out of 25 students so far and many of them have done exceptionally well and others have clearly shown that they have great potential as readers. I hope that as the assessments continue the students will continue to perform equally as well.

Best,

Ms. Heer
