My love for teaching began at Princess Margaret Secondary School, which I attended from Grades 11 to 12. I volunteered to work as a peer tutor for Biology in Grade 11 and 12. I began to learn the nuances of what it takes to be a good educator and what it takes to motivate students to learn.
During my years at Princess Margaret, I also involved myself in the Newspaper Club, where I mentored Grade 8 and 9 students on writing techniques in Journalism, and also volunteered as a Library Assistant in my Grade 12 year.
I returned to Princess Margaret post-graduation to volunteer as an English student-teacher. I was fortunate enough to have experienced and creative mentors willing to share their knowledge and philosophies on teaching with a novice.
My years at Princess Margaret are important to my journey as a teacher, because it was during secondary school when I discovered my love interacting with and mentoring younger students on way to discovering their talents.
